Overview:

 Marathon Oil seeks an Advanced Geologist in Houston, TX.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical service to business units in carrying out requested technical service projects, reports and evaluations that relate to reservoir description, modeling, simulation and other oil and gas reservoir related services.
  • Maintain and apply technology by providing effective quantitative methods and techniques in the characterization, analysis, modeling and simulation of reservoirs and apply in specific areas of Marathon’s operations and business focus.
  • Develop technology initiatives to improve the process of integrated characterization, analysis, modeling and simulation of oil and gas reservoirs. Conduct original, creative research, applying theoretical, experimental and other techniques appropriate to reservoir characterization to conceive and test the validity of new and better methods and processes designed to improve the Company’s oil production and recovery.
  • Participate in the selection of Joint Industry Projects (JIP)/Consortia. Interacts with technical staff throughout the Company, members of the  Advisory Committees, and contacts in Industry and Academia to determine which research and technical service topics will be of the greatest utility to Company’s business objectives in both the near and long term.
  • Facilitate technology transfer by providing operating organizations with technical services and information in those areas where technology is rapidly developing. Use Web based communication tools to increase availability of data and information.
  • Design and provide reservoir characterization training seminars for domestic and international production components within area of expertise.
Qualifications:
  • Degree: Master of Sciences degree required
  • Major Discipline: Geosciences, Earth Sciences, or Foreign Equivalent
  • Years Experience Required: Minimum 4 years experience in job offered or 4 years of experience in reservoir geosciences and associated technologies
