Marathon Oil, an energy industry leader, is engaged in the worldwide exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas.  Marathon is currently seeking an Engineering Technician to be a part of the E. Texas / N. Louisiana (ETNLA) team in Fairfield, TX.  The successful candidate will be part of an integrated team, which operates over 500 wells and daily production exceeds 60 MMcd/d gas and 600 bbls/d of oil.


  • Support Operation Services technician staff during their daily involvement with the field SCADA equipment
  • Support field operators and engineers by providing production data and historical chart information
  • Use various software packages to support continued enhancement of the SCADA system
  • Work with engineers, production technicians and field operators to enhance and evaluate minute history data as it pertains to production and artificial lift program in ETNLA
  • Support OS staff  with daily work orders assignments
  • Support OS staff with inventory and ordering of SCADA equipment
  • Work closely with vendors in order to maintain timely repair of equipment.
  • Recommend new approaches to enhance reliability of SCADA communication system.
  • Work closely with I&E staff to identify new products available in the SCADA field
  • Adhere to all Health, Environment, Safety and company policies and procedures. 
  • Self motivated individual with ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.  Technical degree preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Computer proficiencies: Excel and Word required.  Knowledge of TOW, Aries, Access, SCADA, ROCLink800 and COGZ software preferred.
  • Understanding of oilfield data collection beneficial.
  • Minimum 2+ years of I&E technician duties and supporting technical staff preferred. 
  • Experience with network communication preferred. 
  • Experience with Visual Basic and C++ programming preferred.
