Marathon Oil, an energy industry leader, is engaged in the worldwide exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas.  Marathon is currently seeking an Engineering Technician to be a part of the Oklahoma team in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  The successful candidate will be part of an integrated team, providing technical support for ongoing field development across the state of Oklahoma. 



Gather information from multiple databases to assist with technical evaluations on field development. 

‘Mine’ data from SAP and Hyperion to assist with cost and production variance analysis.

Assist with reserve bookings by entering reserve changes and additions into Volts. 

Provide data, information and support to integrated team of engineers and geoscientists.

Recognize variations, deviations and opportunities from data. 

Basic understanding of data flow through field and operating / production accounting systems.

Create and utilize spreadsheets and databases, screening and analyzing data, generating plots, bubble maps and use of other analytical tools.

Support data management and technical evaluation efforts of the team.

Recommend new approaches to streamline team’s data management.

Adhere to all Health, Environment, Safety and company policies and procedures. 


Self motivated individual with ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

High school diploma or equivalent required.  Associates degree / Technical degree preferred.

Computer proficiencies: Excel and Word required.  Knowledge of TOW, Aries, Access, SCADA, Wellview and other software preferred.

Effective team player who takes an active role in team responsibilities.

Understanding of oilfield data collection beneficial.

Minimum 2+ years of technician or data management experience supporting technical staff or strong administrative experience, including technical support.
