Environmental Specialist IV (16481)

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing environmental compliance issues in support of multiple facilities engaged in natural gas gathering and processing located on Colorado's Western Slope in the Piceance Basin.

Primary functions of the position include:

·         Provide general environmental assistance / guidance to Operations and Engineering staff
·         Develop and prepare emission calculations and permit application documents
·         Assistance in negotiations of appropriate permit terms and conditions with regulatory agencies
·         Review and interpret new and proposed environmental laws and regulations and provide guidance to operations
·         Prepare and update environmental budgets and process environmental invoices
·         Preparation and review of environmental reports, correspondence and work plans
·         Assist in guiding efforts for the coordination and scheduling of required testing, sampling, monitoring, field inspections, data gathering and record keeping.
·         Prepare and update environmental compliance procedures and training materials
·         Manage environmental data in the company’s environmental data management system
·         Prepare semi-annual compliance certifications and participate in periodic compliance reviews with operations staff
·         Prepare and update SPCC plans, NPDES and other discharge permits/plans
·         Assist with and review spill and release reports
·         The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with other EHS staff, field operations staff and consultants to maintain data and documents related to permitting, compliance, and company performance metrics. 
·         This position will involve all aspects of data and document management including data entry, data analysis, reporting, and records management. 
·         This position includes regular travel to field facilities in the Parachute area, as well as occasional trips to Denver or other office locations for meetings and other functions.
This position may be located in the region bounded by the towns of DeBeque, Rifle, Meeker and Rangely, Colorado. 
·         Bachelor's degree in an engineering or equivalent technical or scientific field required;
·         8+ years of recent environmental experience is essential;
·         Experience with the Oil & Gas industry and/or associated Colorado and industry specific environmental regulations is preferred. 
·         Experience  with and detailed knowledge of environmental issues, particularly those related to air quality issues (such as Title V, NSR/PSD and NSPS/MACT). 
·         Applicants should have an understanding of other environmental media such as SPCC, SWPPP, NPDES, and general waste management regulations.  As this position may also be responsible for release or spill reporting, an understanding of EPCRA/CERCLA is also desirable. 
·         A strong aptitude in math, general office (PC-based) computer skills, a moderate level of understanding of relational databases and advanced query skills are expected.
·         This position requires a motivated, hard-working, team player with attention to details and strong organizational, people and communication skills. 
·         The successful candidate must be able to take ownership of projects, be effectively self directed, and be accountable for their successful completion. 
·         Possession of a current valid Colorado driver's license with no serious violations is mandatory. 
 This position may be filled at a different level commensurate with the successful applicant’s experience, education, background and qualifications.
