We are currently seeking a Field Operator in Cody, WY to efficiently maintain production and injection wells, perform daily well tests, maintain well test facilities, and report/review production data in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Position will work closely with operations engineers, construction, and maintenance personnel to optimize daily production in a safe, clean and responsible manner.

  • Lead and/or participate in daily tailgate meetings and JSA reviews.
  • Prepare well production equipment, facilities and piping for maintenance or construction using energy control and Lockout, Tag out procedures.
  • Identify components, function and associated hazards of field production equipment and recognize level of impact on the system/process.
  • Maintain optimum operation of surface equipment including separators, pumps, valves, vapor recovery units, and well blow down equipment.
  • Seeks to understand process streams associated with well formations.
  • Perform troubleshooting of process and equipment with supervision.
  • Check all wells to insure they are flowing correctly, producing at maximum rates; check gauges daily to verify loss or gain of fluids.
  • Ensure all daily production and well performance data are correctly accounted for using TOW and SCADA. Advise field supervision of any problems. 
  • Check facilities for any problems. Report problems to field supervision.
  • Check to ensure that all chemical pumps are in working order and pumping the required chemical amount. Communicate any problems to field supervision.
  • Ensure all housekeeping issues are taken care of during your shift.
  • Complete facility audits and corrective actions as required in a timely manner.


To qualify, you must exercise good people skills, be self motivated with excellent mechanical abilities and ability to troubleshoot. Field or Production Operator experience, an understanding of ESP and Rod Pumping operations or general oilfield exposure is highly preferred.


Education: High School Diploma or equivalent


Experience: No experience required, though prior oil field experience is preferred.


Computer Skills: Must be able to use a personal computer including familiarity with MS Office and MS Excel.


General Knowledge: Must have basic mechanical knowledge and ability. 


Troubleshooting: Must be able to use logical reasoning to troubleshoot and generate ideas for solutions to mechanical problems.


Environment: Must be able to work in extreme heat, cold, wind, and other weather conditions for extended periods of time.


HES: Must have the ability to recognize environmental and safety hazards in the field and communicate these to the proper personnel.
