Marathon Oil, an energy industry leader, is engaged in the worldwide exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas.  Marathon is currently seeking a Geoscience Technician in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to support our Oklahoma exploration & production activity.   The position will be a part of an integrated exploration and production team.

  • Understanding the functionality and use of a variety of software packages that include GIS Systems (ArcGIS), seismic interpretation software (Landmark Seisworks), geologic mapping software (Geographix/Petra) and other supporting software.
  • Be familiar with data loading requirements to support these software packages.
  • Assist with management of survey data related to 2D and 3D seismic acquisition.
  • The ability to use GIS and graphics packages necessary for regulatory filings.
  • Provide operational support and troubleshooting of positioning issues relating to current or legacy data.
  • Provide support to seismic data management functions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work within a multi-disciplinary team to achieve project related goals.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively disseminate planning process and results of drilling plans.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Two year Associates degree or Bachelors’ degree in GIS or other business related discipline preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure.
  • Ability to organize and track large quantity of technical documents.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in oil & gas industry preferred.
  • Proficient AutoCAD, CadWorx software (ability to open, read, navigate, update and troubleshoot within drawings).
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS, Global Mapper, Java, C++, Visual Basic and other related software.
