Overview:

The HES Supervisor position will provide HES Support to the Rocky Mountain Operations through guidance and supervision of field Safety and Environmental Professionals. This role will also work closely with NAPO HES and the Centers of Safety and Environmental Excellence to drive consistency throughout NAPO for key HES initiatives.

 

The Field HES Supervisor supports the North American Production Operations Assets by applying technical health, environment, safety (HES) and risk mitigation knowledge, assisting operations with implementation of HES policies/procedures and programs, by coaching to improve HES leadership and integrity of safety and environmental processes, providing consistent guidance on issues, and promoting knowledge sharing with other Marathon business components.

 

This position includes responsibilities supporting the continued development and positive progression of NAPO HES culture through engagements with local leadership teams and supervising field HES professionals located in these assets. In addition, this position will be responsible for championing the NAPO HES Coaching Process.

Responsibilities:

1) Support direct reports and provide guidance and leadership with respect to health, environment and safety issues.

 

2) Assess HES processes and how they are implemented in the asset to identify gaps and coach for and drive continuous HES improvement within the asset.

 

3) Assist operations personnel with the implementation of HES policies/procedures/programs and overall HES improvement efforts. Assist operations with the development of action plans and follow through on actions assigned to them as part of these plans.

 

4) Meet with Operations Managers and Superintendents regularly to ensure alignment between business needs, HES program implementation and HES professional support.

 

5) Set an example of living our values by participating in safety meetings, Behavior Based Safety (BBS) program, environmental awareness, diversity awareness opportunities and other activities.

 

6) Lead by example by consistently and openly promoting and modeling safety and environmental stewardship as values and proactively engaging employees and contractors with the goal of behavioral and performance improvement. Actively support and promotes all of the Company's values.

 

7) Work closely with counterparts supporting remaining NAPO Assets to drive consistency and foster collaboration between the field HES professionals and with the NAPO HES team overall.

 

8) Work closely and collaboratively with the NAPO Safety & Environmental Centers of Excellence to foster a cohesive NAPO HES Team that promotes consistency, leverages resources, and ensures clear and open communication channels with all levels of Operations.

 

9) Work closely and collaboratively with field-based Operations Leadership to drive continuous HES culture improvement within each operating area.

 

10) Provide HES leadership coaching and influence to Operations leadership to drive HES culture improvement within NAPO.

 

11) Champion the NAPO HES Coaching Process within asset of responsibility and throughout NAPO.

Qualifications:

Degree: Bachelors degree required

Major discipline: Safety or Environmental related preferred

Years Experience: 10+ years in HES

Travel Required (%): +/- 30% to RMO field areas and Houston, TX
