Overview:

Marathon has reached a definitive agreement to purchase assets in the core of the Eagle Ford shale formation in Texas in a transaction valued at $3.5 billion.  With these assets, Marathon has the potential to book up to 100 million boe of proved reserves by the end of 2011.  In addition, production is expected to increase to approximately 80,000 net boe per day by 2016 with the expectation to drill 250 – 300 wells per year over the next five to eight years. This acquisition establishes Marathon’s position in the highest value oil and condensate core area of the Eagle Ford shale.

  

The successful candidate will provide HES support for ongoing field development within the Eagle Ford play in South Texas.  With the recently announced acquisition of additional acreage in the play, Marathon’s net leasehold position increased to 285,000 acres, the team has aggressive plans to manage up to 20 rigs and a multitude of wells required to develop the field. This position will report to the Construction Superintendent and will be located in Gonzales, Texas

Responsibilities:
  • Works with all employees and contractors to instill a safe and environmentally conscientious work environment, determining the awareness level, discussing policies and procedures, advising on the best means of following those policies and procedures.
  • Provides HES support to construction team for safety related activities including confined space entry, hot work, lockout/tag out, and other safe work permits.
  • Attends and participates in Marathon and contractor safety meetings, and conducts contractor safety orientations.
  • Monitors HES performance within operational area and works with HES professionals and operations staff to develop and/or implement programs or processes to improve HES behavior.
  • Participates in Tier I and II HES audits and monitor status of pending and resolved recommendations. Conducts routine FORC audits to support HES principles.
  • Supports employees with proper reporting of incidents.
  • Lends support to Environmental staff.
  • Participates in incident investigations related to accidents, near misses, and unplanned discharges. Ensure timely preparation of documentation.
  • Coordinates proper shipping and/or disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintains HES plans and procedures (SPCC, Emergency Response, etc.) by updating documentation and communicating changes.
Qualifications:

Education:                            High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:                          Two years oil & gas field experience preferred; HES experience preferred

Computer Skills:                  Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook; Access and experience in Database management is a plus.

Certifications:                      None required.
