The HSE Manager provides support and guidance for a specific area to ensure that the Company's objectives are achieved in the areas of safety, training and environmental concerns. This includes providing assistance and instruction to all levels of management and employees in their efforts to reduce the frequency and severity of personal injuries, motor vehicle accidents, property damage losses, and environmental releases. The HSE Manager helps plan, develop, implement and monitor programs to ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures and all local, state and federal regulations. The HSE Manager maintains a direct line of responsibility to the District Operations Manager and Regional HSE department.


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Must have 3-5 years of Wireline experience
  • Champion safe work habits.
  • Thorough knowledge of general safety, training and environmental concepts, standards and practices.
  • Understand all applicable government laws, regulation and reporting procedures such as OSHA, DOT, API, RRC, EPA, ATF, and DOE.
  • Direct day to day activities for employees including scheduling, periodic reviews, discipline as appropriate. Provide mentoring and employee development. Also, manage equipment accountability, overtime and expenditures.
  • Have an understanding of basic management concepts, including training, goal setting, motivation, communication, delegation, and organization.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of the techniques of accident investigation and loss control.
  • A working knowledge of the oil well servicing industry related safety equipment, materials and technology.
  • Develop programs and conduct training sessions on a scheduled basis to ensure proper and adequate trained workforce. Conduct drills to ensure understanding and comprehension of training.
  • Ability to use Work Planning and Review Positions Definition Systems and conduct annual reviews and update systems as required.
  • Ensure compliance with the Company's DOT and non-DOT drug and alcohol testing policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a line of communication with operations management, customers, vendors, educational institutions, professional organizations and applicable governmental agencies.
  • Position reports to HSE Director but must have a sound working relationship with all management and supervisory positions in their designated area.
  • Position requires frequent contact and coordination with local staff groups, field locations, customers and local, state, and federal governmental agency personnel.
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle and possess a valid driver's license.


Required Skills

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced and high stress environment.
  • Must be computer proficient with working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must be able to develop presentations for employee and customer engagements.
  • Work schedule will require the ability to respond to calls before/after hours and on weekends.
  • Must be able to work with current and potential customers.

Bachelor's degree in Safety related discipline or 5 years HSE experience.
At least 3 years of Wireline field experience.
At least 1 year of progressive experience in safety/safety management positions.


Licenses and Certifications

Valid Driver's License and maintain eligibility of approved driver status to operate company assets.
Ability to obtain valid passport.


Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has supervisory responsibilities for two or more full-time employees.
