Williams Midstream business unit has an opening for a Manager of Technical Services for Western Gulf of Mexico (WGOM) assets as well as oversight of Tier II Support for Gulf Coast shared disciplines.

The purpose of this role is to lead a multidisciplinary technical team responsible for supporting all technical aspects of operating, optimizing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Western Gulf of Mexico assets as well as general Gulf Coast Support for Measurement, Environmental and Rotating Equipment.


The Manager acts as the focal point and lead coordinator for major construction projects including gas processing plant, pipeline, compression and NGL asset expansions in the Western Gulf Coast. 

Through personal performance, the successful candidate will model safe, productive, results-oriented work habits, and contribute consistently to WGOM overall maintenance performance and improvement through productive interaction with peers and other leaders.  Further, this role will provide tools and metrics that enable direct reports and the leadership group to efficiently manage maintenance costs, maximize profit and ultimately improve EVA.

This role will influence decisions that improve safety and reliability, reduce operating costs, and create sustainable competitive advantage throughout the WGOM.  





  • Lead the Tactical field staff to provide technical support to the WGOM asset area to promote a safe, efficient, reliable, and compliant operation in accordance with Williams SIP.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for WGOM operations in the areas of gas processing and offshore operations.
  • Oversee completion of locally managed small Capital Projects in accordance with Project Life Cycle
  • Manage WGOM Capital Budget planning, tracking and forecasting
  • Develop positive business relationships with other operations co-workers, other leaders, direct reports, Op Techs, Technical Service SME’s, etc. that lead to increased safety, reliability, and efficiency for WGOM facilities and equipment.


Customers / Strategic Support

  • Understand customer needs and contractual requirements and ensure both are integrated into the system operation strategy.
  • Serve as resource for the commercial marketing group with regard to customer issues and customer contract negotiations.
  • Identify opportunities and constraints of assets and workforce, and execute solutions accordingly.
  • Develop effective relationships with major customers and integrate their needs into team and area goals and daily team performance.


Financial Performance / Cost Management

  • Ensure procedures are in place and deployed to the operating area’s teams that ensure SOX compliance.
  • Ensure consistent utilization of economic evaluation tools and consistent criteria by which expense decisions, both O&M and capital, are made.
  • Manage unit cost by controlling expenses and optimizing volume throughput through sound maintenance and operating practices.
  • Ensure consistent and accurate expense and capital forecasting.

Performance Management / Leadership

  • Demand compliance with SIP and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate Williams’ Leadership Standards, in word and action.
  • Establish development and performance plans for direct reports that result in skill growth and improved performance.
  • Develop and provide metrics that indicate the operating area’s reliability performance.
  • Collaborate with peers to continually improve Midstream practices in areas such as safety, reliability, compliance, facility operations and organization.

  • 4 year degree engineering or science
  • Knowledge of offshore pipeline and facility operations and ability to identify opportunities to optimize economic performance
  • 7 Years of related industry experience
  • Proven ability to develop teams, share objectives, and deliver results.
  • Understanding of commercial agreements
  • Understanding of budgeting and forecasting processes and economic evaluation tools
  • Knowledgeable of SIP or similar safety procedures and practices, and demonstrated ability to positively impact safety performance
  • Familiarity with G&P, FERC and BSEE regulatory requirements and environmental permits
