SUMMARY

The Network Administrator supports the corporate data communications infrastructure. This person troubleshoots and configures network devices including switches, routers, firewalls, IPS and IDS; responsible for working with vendors, third party professional services and ISP and/or carriers to resolve network related issues; responsible for network devices, their availability and compliance to network Service Level Agreements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Specialist router and switching infrastructure support.
  • Provide data networking (routing and switching) skills to the organization.
  • Support adds/moves/changes to network infrastructure including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Perform application impact analysis.
  • Analyze the application traffic patterns and determine the impact to production links.
  • Create and support QOS (Quality of Service) on the Network.
  • Carry out network hardware installations including router, switch and firewall installations.
  • Work with carriers, service providers and vendors to correct faults.
  • Network fault corrections including OSI - Layers 1 to 4. Provide maintenance and support as required.
  • Provide advice and technical support on network matters.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • 5 years experience in Network Administration with relevant industry certifications. (Foundry/Brocade knowledge is a plus).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of network troubleshooting methodologies T
  • echnical knowledge of network technologies (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, Spanning Tree, HSRP/VRRP, QOS)
  • Knowledge of related network components (DHCP, DNS, Network Acceleration)
  • Detailed knowledge of core technologies (TCP/IP, Network Masks, Hexadecimal, Binary) G
