Williams Midstream is seeking an experienced engineer to model, simulate and analyze pipeline operations transporting NGL and other liquid products. This position will be part of a team effort focused on both offline and online simulations using a software application suite. It will have specific responsibility for managing the input data used in all applications in the software suite.

 

Other Responsibilities:
• With ongoing changes to model data and settings, the simulation engineer will help develop and implement a management of change process relating to the applications across the software suite and the various company organizations supported by the team. 
• This role will perform various offline steady-state and transient analyses for operational support and regulatory requirements such as procedure and surge studies. The simulation engineer will develop knowledge of all suite applications including online analysis modules specifically used for pipeline leak detection. As such, they will also be expected to achieve proficiency as a back-up leak detection engineer supporting pipeline control functions with occasional on-call responsibilities.
• Maintaining proficiency with the modeling and analysis tools may also include attendance at software vendor training classes and user group conferences along with other technical events.
 

This Tulsa-based role will be have responsibility for pipeline systems across the United States and may require frequent facility visits to work with field personnel involved with day-to-day system operations and maintenance, verify input data pertaining to physical configuration, operations and control systems, and to gain practical experience and knowledge of the systems. These trips also provide opportunity to share technical findings, discuss model improvement ideas, define additional scenarios for existing or proposed operations, collaborate with field engineers and technicians, and otherwise build close working relationships as one of Williams’ core values.

Qualifications:
• B.S. degree in Mechanical/Civil /Electrical/Chemical Engineering
• 10 years or more of industry experience
• Demonstrated capabilities in leading and working on teams and across organizational boundaries
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate at various levels within the organization
• Should possess strong communication, analytical and problem solving skills and enjoy working both with teams and independently to arrive at desired results
• Experience in liquid pipeline design, construction and operations support
• Knowledge of liquid pipeline hydraulic calculations – preferably with simulation based software programs such as SimSuite, Stoner Pipeline Simulator or Pipeline Studio
• The ability to efficiently and accurately configure physical facilities into hydraulic modeling and simulation software for desired results
• Knowledge of design, construction and operation of liquid pipeline facilities including pressure ratings, measurement, valves, pumps, codes and regulations
• Knowledge and experience with GIS platforms/mapping and data mining a plus
