Support the company's public outreach initiative by assisting in developing and supporting public outreach plans that proactively engage the public and advance pipeline expansion projects. The incumbent will support the Manager of Public Outreach who serves as the central contact point for public outreach efforts related to pipeline projects. This position will work closely with the Project Manager and Project Liaison. The incumbent will collaborate with Technical Services personnel as well as corporate support functions including Government Affairs, Corporate Communications, Community Relations, Environmental, Rates and Regulatory, Land and Business Development to ensure that Williams continues its objective of building credibility and trust with the public and maintaining its reputation for being a safe and reliable transporter of natural gas.


Responsibilities include:

Develop a thorough understanding the of FERC pre-filing and filing guidelines for stakeholder outreach. Assist in the development of the public record for outreach efforts to be filed with FERC Certificate Applications and assist Environmental staff with the monthly progress reports required by FERC regulations.


Assist in establishing and maintaining stakeholder list with input from State and Federal Government Affairs (elected officials) and other groups as appropriate. Generate initial stakeholder outreach mailing list based on stakeholder list and update as needed. Assist in recording, tracking, and following up on issues raised by stakeholders that are received by the project team members throughout the FERC Pre-Filing phase. Assist with the generation of FERC regulatory deliverables including but not limited to stakeholder list, monthly status reports pertaining to stakeholder outreach, and responses to FERC scoping comments.


Serve on project teams to implement strategic and technical direction for stakeholder outreach. Work with Land, Corporate Communications, Government Affairs, Business Development, the project liaison and others as necessary to ensure that all phases of the project are communicated consistently to all stakeholders.


Serve as a representative of the company at public meetings.


Prepare, and when necessary, deliver presentations to local municipalities, non-governmental organizations, special interest groups.

Work with Corporate Communications on the development of project newsletters, open house presentation materials, project announcements and informational letters. Assist in researching community engagement projects that would enhance Williams’s relations and reputation with local communities.


Contribute to/update the Public Outreach SharePoint site. Prepare business cases for Foundation support of community events.

Minimal financial duties related to Requests for Service, letter agreements, check requests, etc.

Perform other work duties as assigned.

Candidate should have 4-6 years of experience in the natural gas industry, working knowledge of pipeline design, construction, operations, and project development. Additionally the candidate should have proficient knowledge of state and federal regulatory regulations and requirements, understanding of business commitments and customer requirements, problem solving and issue resolution skills, excellent communication skills, proven leadership, the ability to represent WGP to internal and external contacts, the ability to work independently and be proficient in Power Point, Excel, and Word.  A Bachelors degree or equivalent experience is required.

Relocation Information:

Williams Corporation will not pay relocation costs for this position.


Travel varies from 25-50 percent depending on project location and regulatory timelines
