Senior Tax Analyst (11803)

The Senior Tax Analyst is a transitional role between tax staff and Tax Managers.  The Senior Tax Analyst assists Tax Managers in coordinating overall tax compliance processes and will actively participate in highly complex tax compliance as needed.  The Senior Tax Analyst will take an active role in the development of other tax staff, but HR responsibilities remain with the Tax Manager.  While Tax Analysts may assist the Senior in certain job responsibilities the ultimate accountability for those job responsibilities remains with the Senior.


Tax compliance job responsibilities of the Senior Tax Analyst include:

  • Coordinate assigned tax compliance processes                                                                        
  • Review tax returns                                                                                                                   
  • Review recommendations by Tax Analysts on tax issues and potential tax savings identified while during the tax compliance process                                                                                                                                 
  • Identify ways to make overall tax compliance processes more efficient                                      
  • Monitor whether materiality guidelines set by the functional leader are being followed                
  • Review tax entries and tax account reconciliations needed for the financial statements          
  • As needed, review responses to notices and general inquiries                                                   
  • Prepare responses to audit inquiries                                                                                         


Other responsibilities for Senior Tax Analysts not specifically related to tax compliance include:

  • Maintain performance scorecard data and provide reports as requested
  • Maintain technical tax knowledge utilizing internal resources as well as external classes  or conferences                                                                                                                                                          
  • Continually seek to learn more about Williams’ businesses and people.  Develop industry knowledge through both internal and external resources                                                                                                                   
  • Facilitate open communication among the tax compliance functional team to share knowledge and improve one another’s skills                                                                                                                                       
  • Coach less experienced team members to improve their efficiency and skill development           
  • Support tax analysis of Business Development efforts as requested                                         
  • Support cash tax forecasts as requested                                                                              
  • Assist Tax Managers in fulfilling their roles as requested                                                           


Required Qualifications:

  • Degree:  Bachelor’s – Major in Accounting or Non- Accounting Major having earned 30 credit hours in accounting courses
  • Experience:  6+ Years


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree:  Masters – Tax
  • Experience: 10+ Years

  • Certification: CPA
  • MLP tax compliance and/or strong partnership compliance experience
  • Experience in support of FERC regulatory tax compliance
