Job Title: Server Administrator
Department: Information Technology
The Server Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining all servers, virtual configurations, and network storage in the corporate enterprise. This position is also responsible for Active Directory and email systems. This position also provides tier two support to the Help Desk on server/software-related issues.


  • Installation, setup, troubleshooting, and updating of hardware, software, and operating systems for MS Windows servers, RDP, and Citrix servers.
  •  Installation, configuration, and updating of virtualized servers and hosts.
  •  Manage and maintain SAN storage (EqualLogic, IBM DS5100). Maintain Active Directory and user rights.
  • Maintain email services, including mailbox policies and email archiving best-practices.
  • Responsible for performing, monitoring, and configuring backup and recovery schemes using multiple tools (e.g., Backup Exec, Tivoli Storage Manager).
  • Support data center environment 24/7 by monitoring server and data center alarms within IT SLA guidelines.
  • Resolve issues or escalate through proper support chain.
  • 5 years experience in the following areas: Windows Server 2003/2008 administration; virtual server platform architectures, preferably VMware and/or Citrix Vsphere ; Active Directory domain structures and administ ration; MS Exchange 2003/2007/2010 administration; and storage architecture platforms and file archiving methods.
  • Understanding of common backup and restore procedures.
  •  Linux/Unix/AIX skills a plus.
  •  Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to take a given task and work independently and as part of a team.
