Overview:

The position holder will be responsible for advancing technology and capabilities for the company primarily in completion techniques, tools and operations.  Will provide integration of completion activities and requirements into the subsurface workflow that includes completions, drilling, reservoir and geoscience professionals. The position holder will analyze/consult on completion projects worldwide as needed with  focus on unconventional resources.  A secondary area will be  completion/stimulation in offshore developments.  May serve on industry professional society committees as well as represent the company on  joint industry projects.

Responsibilities:

1.  Develop concepts and improvements for completion technology in unconventional resources; participate with project teams, asset teams and drilling/completions teams to develop concepts and theories to be  field tested; work with drilling, completion and production engineering groups to translate to field executable tests and  applications.

2.  Develop integrated completion concepts and improvements for deepwater environments and work with industry partners for appropriate testing.  Assist development teams with  implementation and perform post-implementation evaluations.

 
3.  Assist clients on complex completion designs across the asset  base.

4.  Participate in industry committees and workshops, monitor Joint Industry Projects and project proposals to determine their applicability and interest to Marathon. Potentially represent Marathon on JIP projects.

5.  Stay abreast of new developments in stimulation and completion technologies and identify those that warrant testing and development within the company.

 
6.  Participate in peer assists as requested and work with clients to optimize completion performance throughout the company.

Qualifications:

Degree: Bachelors required, advanced degrees a plus

Major Discipline:  Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field
Years Experience: Minimum of 15 years experience is  preferred. Direct experience with completion design, execution and post job analysis is required. Areas of exposure should include work on tubular and tool design, perforating, stimulation and artificial lift.  Experience with both onshore and offshore operations including  sand control is a plus.  Experience in multiple basins worldwide is preferred.  Exposure to reservoir, drilling and production engineering, project management and economic evaluation is preferred.
