A key element of the Production Engineer role will be to interact effectively with IPO (International Production Operations) Kurdistan Development support groups, WW Exploration, WW Drilling & Completions and management on all production, subsurface and early production systems related activities.   


As an area production lead, the candidate must bring technical expertise and broad knowledge in the areas of completions, workovers, artificial lift especially ESPs and jet pumps, surface facilities, operations and subsurface engineering.

  • The candidate will provide a wide range of petroleum engineering support, technical advice and guidance to the team and all support groups.


  • Will be responsible for day to day production operations and will provide guidance to the field team.


  • Will play a key role in all completion, testing and workover activities.  Will be responsible for ensuring wellbore/completion design is adequate for all planned operations.  Must be capable of designing wells for high rates in uncertain conditions.


  • Work closely with WWE on all exploration and appraisal well programs and planning activities.  Will assist in asset handover from WWE to IPO, particularly during implementation of Appraisal Plans and extended well testing.


  • Work closely with vendors and industry experts in the areas of artificial lift and early production system to improve performance.


  • Will play a support role in Extended Well Test Facility planning and work closely with the EWTF Project Manager to ensure optimal implementation.  Will be significantly involved in the transition of EWTF to permanent production facilities.


  • Will be responsible for production monitoring and optimization.  Must be capable of designing a system for data acquisition, perform systems analysis and develop a recommendation process for continuous improvement.


  • Will be actively involved in artificial lift failure root cause analysis to improve runtime and the production performance of the field.   This will require travel to vendor shops for teardowns and analysis.


  • Work closely with reliability and HES teams for safe and reliable operations.


  • Provide frequent project updates to management. 


  • Will be actively involved in field development activities.  Must be capable of working with an integrated team to optimize field development and rate / recovery profiles.

Degree: Bachelors Required

Major Discipline: Engineering – Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical

Years Experience Required: Minimum of 10 years. Some experience in an engineering role in international operations is preferred.



Travel Required (%): 10 - 20 % travel to Marathon Office in Erbil, Marathon field locations in Kurdistan and contractor facilities worldwide.
