Staff Geological Assistant

Job Title: Staff Geological Assistant 
Department: Exploration


Provides technical support to assigned Team, Department staff and/or other departments (as necessary) to fulfill project demands, objectives and timelines.

  • Provides support through acquisition, generation, and /or import of all necessary data for assigned Team, Geologists, production, well history, regulatory, survey and industry activity data.
  • Generate maps or assists Geologists in preparing and calculating mapping parameters from well logs, production data and other sources and makes computations and calculations to assist geologists in their evaluations.
  • Generate typelogs and/or cross-sections and other geologic or graphic exhibits with pertinent data posted for use by the Geologists.
  • Operate all pertinent departmental software to provide Geologist(s) and/or assigned team with maps and exhibits required for prospect generation, regulatory compliance and/or corporate use to include base, industry activity, production, contour, filtered and other specialized maps.
  • Ensure all data within pertinent departmental software is updated and maintained as needed for active projects and troubleshoot as necessary.
  • Assist Department staff and/or assigned team in preparing memos, bid requests, reports, well files and production charts as required.
  • Ensure all assigned projects meet quality, timeline, and budget/feasibility requirements (to include requested/approved project outsourcing).
  • Produce, monitor and/or update activity reports and current/historical production analysis for current or future prospects to include competitor well analysis.
  • Draft and/or generate presentation-quality graphics/drawings as necessary, both electronic and hardcopy, for both department and corporate use to include slides, maps, exhibits, cross-sections, and historical/current production statistics.


Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in a technical/business field and a minimum of 8 years geologic/geographic experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
* This position will be relocating to Oklahoma City by Summer 2012. In the interim, will require working out of both the Enid and Oklahoma City offices.
