Purpose:

 

The Supervisor, Safety Process provides leadership and resourcing to Midstream EHS Safety Specialists working in the areas of physical risk management & control and environmental stewardship and will primarily have a deep understanding of OSHA/PSM and safety/risk control management practices as it applies within the context of the oil & gas industry.  This position provides leadership for a team of professionals that provides EHS subject matter expertise across the organization. Likewise, the Supervisor, Safety Process will have a working knowledge of the teams' respective SME areas and must work with the EHS SMEs & Midstream leadership to identify the appropriate level of supporting Tier III resources, coordinating their interactions and results.   The Supervisor must ensure that the SME team provides timely, relevant, and accurate information to the MS organization.

 

Accountabilities:

 

  • Establish, implement and continuously improve processes by which a team of EHS Subject Matter Experts (SME's) support the Midstream organization.
  • In conjunction with Midstream GM and OPG EHS leadership, determine appropriate staffing and competency levels for ESH SMEs necessary to support Midstream operations.
  • Effectively lead a diverse group of independent, highly motivated SME's in the areas of physical risk management & control and environmental stewardship.
  • Lead a team of SME's and provide translation of current and proposed EHS regulatory requirements, applicable consensus standards, and leading edge practices in the areas of physical risk control and environmental stewardship into workable actions for the organization.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to the Midstream organization as to how to respond to Agency actions and Notices of Violation (NOVs), and support the preparation of the appropriate response.
  • Create and maintain effective and productive relationships with those federal, state and local agencies, as well as industry work groups that support Midstream operations.
  • Provide oversight in identifying and developing the next generation of SRs within Williams.

 

 Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Physical Risk Management or related discipline preferred.
  • 10+ years EHS management experience with some time in a formal leadership position preferred, previous Oil & Gas experience desired.
  • Broad level of knowledge concerning industry codes, standards, and practices as well as legal requirements is required.
  • Candidate must have or obtain a specific level of knowledge regarding Midstream's business strategies and operational functions to allow effective interaction with Operations leadership.
  • Advanced certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Registered Environmental Manager (REM), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or advanced degree in related discipline desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate at various levels across organizational boundaries, and influence others without hierarchical authority. Valued skills include: Ability to quickly find common ground and solve problems for the good of all; consult with others and use their input effectively and constructively; and anticipate future consequences and trends accurately.
