Tax Director

Job Title: Tax Director
Department: Accounting

This position is responsible for the Company’s tax compliance, tax planning and accounting for income taxes. The successful candidate will work with businesses, service providers, and other tax professionals in carrying out his or her responsibilities. He or she will work with financial management within the Company and third party service providers. This position will be responsible for tax matters related to merger and acquisition activities including transaction analysis, due diligence and post merger integration.
  • Responsible for completion of federal and state income tax returns including all related analysis and support
  • Responsible for property tax functions
  • Responsible for audits of federal and state income tax and state and local filings
  • Responsible for accounting for income taxes (SFAS No. 109)
  • Supervise professional and paraprofessional staff of 2
  • Liaison with operating management on tax issues and accounting staff on tax accounting issues
  • Ensuring that appropriate internal controls are in place over accounting for income taxes, including policies and procedures regarding structuring transactions, divestitures and other special projects
  • Departmental liaison with IT staff on all technical matters relating to tax applications
  • Assist the CFO and/or CAO with tax planning issues as required
  • Assist the CFO and/or CAO in estimating and monitoring annual cash taxes
  • Manage implementations of tax planning projects and the integration of target companies into company's tax operations process
  • Perform purchase accounting analysis under U.S. GAAP with respect to completed acquisitions
  • Conduct extensive communication with company leadership across business functions (Accounting, Legal, Treasury, Financial Planning, Operations) related to tax matters
  • Monitor legislative changes in federal and state tax laws that may impact company's tax positions, including tax accounting implications
  • Oversee special projects as required (E&P studies, 382 studies, deferred tax analysis, etc.)
  • Manage outside tax consultants and advisors 
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Accounting
  • Master’s Degree in Business Taxation preferred
  • JD and/or CPA preferred
  • Ten years of related experience with at least five years in a public accounting firm
  • Experience with ERP systems Proficiency with income tax accounting (FAS 109, FIN 48)
  • Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment

* This position will be relocating to Oklahoma City by Summer 2012.  In the interim, will require working out of both the Enid and Oklahoma City offices.
